Global oil and gas reserves have been naturally declining and the chance of finding hydrocarbons from new fields becomes
EOR techniques allow to produce hydrocarbons already discovered thus providing the opportunity to increase production from existing reservoirs. This way novel EOR represents an option to increase the recovery factor.
Furthermore, the current scenario of Oil and Gas prices has set up a suitable environment for research and innovation, in this context EOR seems to be a good option to slow down this global tendency of production decline and create additional value.
The IEA’s Technology Collaboration Programs for research, development and demonstration on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) together
with the National Hydrocarbon Commission of Mexico is pleased to host the 38th annual workshop
and symposium on EOR to be held from September 26th to 30th in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The two-day workshop will cover different topics regarding the fundamental research on EOR, including studies of fluid flow in porous media, surfactants and polymers, thermal methods, gas flooding techniques, reservoir characterization and emerging technologies. The one-day symposium will focus on challenges and achievements of EOR techniques on fractured reservoirs.
